Overview

The Government of Punjab is making strenuous efforts for a better and effective Health Care system .The Defining step in this direction was to recognize the importance of Health Care at Primary & Secondary Levels. As a first step towards better health care at primary and secondary level, a separate department was created. The basic mandate of Primary & Secondary Health Department is to focus on preventive health care in primary sector along with basic diagnostics and treatment facilities at secondary level. The context is to primarily lessen the load on tertiary care health facilities.
THQ Hospital Taunsa  is a Secondary Level Healthcare facility in Tehsil Taunsa Sharif, district Dera Ghazi Khan. Tehsil Taunsa Sharif is the biggest Tehsil of Punjab province having one constituency of National Assembly and two constituencies of provincial assembly. Tehsil Headquarter Hospital is only Secondary level healtcare facility providing health facilities to the inhabitants of the whole area.
Major interventions of the hospital include:

• Constructed at 80 Canal Area in 1979
• Initially constructed with a capacity of 60 Beds
• Upgraded by the Government in year 2008-09 to 80 Beds
• Upgraded to 100 Beds in 2015-16 by construction of Trauma Center
• Covering N.A. 189, P.P. 285 and P.P. 286
• Serving total population of around 6.75 Lac

Recently, announcement of up gradation from 100 Beds to 190 Bedded THQ Hospital has been made by Ex - Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Usman Khan Buzdar on his visit at THQ Hospital Taunsa on 17-11-2018.
